Trajectories

Giacomo Rizzo

Trajectories is a submerged sculpture conceived to merge with the marine ecosystem and tell the millenary story of life through shape and matter. The base, sculpted directly in Gozo using local stone, takes the form of a minimalist vessel — a silent ark carrying the geological, biological, and cultural memory of the planet. Rising from it are vertical organic elements in eco-compatible cement with stainless steel cores, designed to resist corrosion and integrate respectfully with the marine environment. These ascending forms — reminiscent of coral, algae, or ancient signals — suggest silent growth, resilience, and coexistence. Rooted in Ocean Literacy Principle #6, the work is both a symbolic offering and a literal habitat: not an object imposed on the seascape, but a form open to time, currents, microorganisms, and transformation.
Over time, it will become part of the living seabed—inhabited, eroded, renewed.
